• Q: I heard that the institute was originally called as the Hot Spring Research Institute. Why do study asteroids?
• A: Hot springs come from the inside of the Earth. This led us to study the interior of the Earth. As we learned more about the interior of the Earth, we realized that to understand the Earth, we needed to describe it relatively in the Solar system. This led us to study other bodies in the Solar system besides the Earth, such as asteroids.

To companies and researchers

We conduct joint research with companies from the perspective of making more practical and effective use of the research capabilities and equipment it has developed. We also accept donations from companies and individuals to fund the promotion of research and education. For details, contact us.

To society and the local community

We accept visits from the local community with the aim of developing the next generation of researchers and interacting with the local community. We can also give lectures about our research as part of our outreach activities. If you hope to do so, get in contact with us.
