QuickPress: Compact piston cylinder device

Desktop-type piston cylinder device is also available. This press was originally made by late Prof. John Holloway (Depth's of Earth). Non-end-loaded press design allows compact size and easy operation.

machine specifications:

• 1/2 inch NaCl or NaCl+Pyrex glass cell available. Pressure up to 2 GPa, and temperature up to 1500 C or so. Nearly friction free.

applications:

• sample synthesis at 1 to 2 GPa
• phase relation study at lower crust and upper mantle conditions
